In a Year...
What’s Going On

Phase 1
Field Preparation
We adapt our farming practices to each field based on geography and soil types to ensure maximum production while preserving and improving the land. We accomplish this through specialty equipment operated by first-class farming operators.
Phase 2
Planting
In the planting phase, we use several different planter types and configurations. We also conduct on-farm research and use the latest technology to put the right seed on the right soil.

Phase 3
Plant Health
Once the crop is planted, we use soil and tissue sampling to give us the perfect profile for what fertilization method and fertilizer type is best suited for the field. The fertilization period has to be timed perfectly with the crop's age, height, and health.
Phase 4
Irrigation
Irrigation is the final ingredient in farming practices. Southeast Missouri is blessed with an abundant amount of water, which is its greatest natural resource. This is what ties it all together, allowing us to have high-yield crop production.

Phase 5
Harvest
The crops are annual and not perennial, so they die at the end of their season. Harvesting involves combines, grain carts, semi trucks, tractors, and many employees who help carry out the long hours it entails. Harvest is Hulshof Farms' favorite time of the year. This ends the farming season, and Hulshof Farms delivers its product to various grain elevators that ship it worldwide.
